Recently I went along for Afternoon Tea and met some of the lovely team from Mum & You and some other bloggers as well (it’s not often you get to have afternoon tea and discuss a company’s products!) Darcie and I had a lovely afternoon and found out all about the company and their background.
Mum & You are a relatively new brand aimed at mothers and their babies. Their products have been carefully thought out by a team of people are either parents themselves or passionate about helping parents and their babies.
Not only have Mum & You designed and created many products ranging from nappies and wipes to beauty products for mums they have also created a fantastic app called Nappy Chat.
Research shows that lots of children aren’t “school ready” when it comes to them starting primary school (aged 4). Mum and You wanted to create something to help and support parents (and carers) to change this. They found out that the first 1000 days of a baby’s life are the most vital for brain and language development.
Nappy Chat was designed to help and encourage parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts and childminders to chat, sing and share with your baby. Babies can even hear your voice in the womb and recognise voices once they are born so this interaction with your baby is so important.
The Nappy Chat app is completely free and can be used alongside Mum & You nappy chat nappies as they have beautiful designs with their characters on them. We have got the weather and animals print.
When setting up the app you can set up a profile for your baby with their photo, name, dob and gender- I love this personal touch to it. You can also add more than one baby too so for Childminder’s it is great that this app can be used across the board with all of the children they care for.
The app is broken down into two sections Stories & Poems and Playtime and within each section there are 3 age groups; 0-9 months, 9-18 months and Over 18 months. There are lots of suggestions of songs, stories and games. There are rhymes relating to the characters on the nappies such as Jiffy Giraffe and there are also some classics which you may have forgotten about. I’m sure my husband wouldn’t remember any of the nursery rhymes that were sung to him as a young boy.
We have put the app to the test over the last couple of weeks and now I’m beginning to know the songs off by heart. Some of the songs are in the tune of others that you may already know for example Up & Down is in the tune of “I hear Thunder”. Darcie loved this one as I was lifting her up and down at the end of changing her nappy. We have also sang songs before bed as the weather print features a sun and moon print and those characters have their own songs and stories too. There are questions alongside each song that help engage in a conversation with your baby. Once Darcie is a little bit older I look forward to hearing her responses!
I absolutely love the playtime section within the app, most of the ideas involved regular household objects such as pots and pans and… socks! Darcie loved this activity she couldn’t stop laughing, especially when the socks had different voices and they tickled her.
I have also filmed a YouTube video as well if you would like to see us using the app!
Thank you for reading,
